Arcomed’s PP line concept offers a range of Polypropylene IV consumables that avoid many environmental issues such as toxic waste through the incineration process. It is also the least susceptible plastic to mismedication due to sorbtion or problems caused by plasticisers.
Sorbtion – or how to achieve total dose delivery.
As a drug flows through the tubing, the active molecules adsorb (stick) to the inside of the tubing, reducing the effectiveness of the drug.

The PVC lifecycle – its production, use, and disposal – results in the release of
toxic, chlorine-based chemicals. These toxins are building up in the water, air
and food chain. The result: severe health problems, including cancer, immune
system damage, and hormone disruption.
OVER 100 HEALTHCARE INSTITUTIONS AROUND THE WORLD ARE REDUCING OR
PHASING OUT PVC AND PHTHALATES.*

This effect is particularly significant with PVC.

Air Lock
The "Air Lock Filter" integrated in the bottom of the drip chamber reduces or stops the penetration of air into the infusion line. This is an important safety aspect, especially in the case of gravity infusion, also with regard to hygiene.
Note: Compliance with the instructions described here is a prerequisite.
How it works..
Carefully fill the infusion set without air (always hold the drip chamber vertically, not diagonally or horizontally)! As soon as the fine grooves inside the membrane are filled with liquid, this prevents the passage of air and particles into the connecting line. This special filter technology creates an additional resistance for the fluid flow.
Prime Lock
The "Prime Lock Filter" integrated at the male-luer connection to the patient. It prevents the leakage of fluid out of the infusion line. This is an important safety aspect, especially in the case of oncology infusions, where cytotoxic drugs are used.
How it works..
As the infusion set is filled and arrives at the filter, the membrane with its hydrophobic characteristics repels the fluid to ensure n spillages occur.
